  • Mel Effron is President of Yield Systems Inc. providing Consulting Services and Resources to the semiconductor industry in the discipline of Yield Improvement and Optimization Practices.

  • In 1993, Mel founded a consulting association to provide training in the methods and practices of advanced Yield Management Methods. His organization was one of the seminal consulting Associations to train, consult and provide Benchmark Studies in advanced yield management methodology and practices.

  • YSI has conducted their third international Benchmark Survey of 21 mature global IC manufacturers (LINK Here).

  • From 1970 to 1993, Mel held numerous engineering and management positions at IBM 's Microelectronics Division in Burlington, VT

  • Mel created a yield management consulting service within IBM 's Service Solution Division. His IYM training program was one of the first Yield Management optimization programs in the industry. It was widely accepted as the standard for Integrated Yield Management Methods and services.

  • Mel has authored several technical papers and is a frequent invited speaker to technical meetings. He is a member of the ASMC Committee and a recognized leader in the field of Yield Management.

  • Dr . Michael E . Long with more than 25 years of diverse technical and managerial experience in research, product development, and manufacturing is the Vice-President of Yield Systems Incorporated and is an international lecturer on the aspects of the Integrated Yield Management Methods.

  • He has 17 years experience in the flat panel display field and digital photography including six in OLED. His experiences include implementation and management of Failure Analysis and Yield Management programs, Management of a prototyping Fab, and the development and implementation of a unique material release process . Application of the Integrated Yield Management Methods to display prototypes, coupled with a strong statistical background, resulted in a doubling of yield in less than nine months .

  • Other experiences included System Laboratory Head, Manufacturing Supervisor, and assistant to a General Manager and Vice President in clinical chemistry . He co-authored the corporate Product Commercialization Process and was project manager of several international programs .

  • He holds 19 patents in the fields of Flat Panel Displays and Digital Printing many of which are on the manufacture of displays and display components using digital printing techniques .

  • He received his Ph . D . in Physical Chemistry from Wayne State University and was an NIH Post-doctoral Fellow at Cornell in the field of Laser Chemistry with 10 journal publications .
